WNS is the second largest business process outsourcing (BPO) company which has adopted the ISO 27001 information security framework. Based in India, WNS was also recognised by the ‘Top 100 CISO Awards 2011’, at the end of last month, for demonstrating outstanding performance in its information security and technology practices.
WNS (Holdings) Ltd is a leading global BPO company. It offers business value to 200+ global clients by combining operational excellence with deep domain expertise in key industry verticals, including Travel, Insurance, Banking and Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail and Consumer Goods, Shipping and Logistics, Healthcare and Utilities.
Through its entire spectrum of business outsourcing services, the company has over 21,000 professionals across 21 delivery centres worldwide, including Costa Rica, India, the Philippines, Romania, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
For such companies as WNS information security is crucial. Operating worldwide, and having access to valuable assets anywhere in the world, creates immense risk of corporate data falling into the hands of cyber-criminals and hackers.
Still, the company proved to everyone that having a solid information security plan (ISP) in place can do the organisation lots of favours. The company’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Arup Chatterje, was recognised for implementing one of the best information security practices amongst Indian companies.
With a wide range of international clients in their portfolio, the company cannot complain about the lack of work. So what brought Arup and his company such a fine reputation?
The ‘Top 100 CISO Awards’ recognise the best and brightest IT security leaders. Business leaders by demonstrating outstanding initiatives, in using information security practices and technology which secure their corporate assets, are presented with this first-of-its-kind award.
Keshav R. Murugesh, Group CEO, WNS Global Services says, ‘We are extremely proud of our Risk Management & Audit Team for bringing us this honour’, he adds, ‘The award is a recognition of WNS’s robust information security practices, which have a right balance of intelligent security platforms and processes, coupled with a strong monitoring framework, which allows our clients to confidently extend their operations to WNS’.
But WNS is not the only company in India which was recognised for its outstanding information security management and which is now ISO 27001 certified. Sterlite Technologies, Spanco Innovative Technologies, Satyam Computers and Keane India are some of the companies which have recently received a similar recognition.
