Anti-Bribery Documentation ToolkitJuly 2nd, 2013 by Lewis Morgan
If there’s a chance to win a big contract, would your representatives do anything to get it? Let me explain what I mean by ‘anything’, I don’t mean staying up all night to fine tune the proposal – I mean paying a bribe.
I don’t need to go into details on how illegal a bribe is, but what I will tell you is that since the UK Bribery Act came into effect, it is a corporate offence if a UK business is found to have failed to prevent bribery. So you’ve gone from unfairly winning a big contract, to an unlimited fine with the possibility of up to 10 years in jail.
Even if you weren’t directly involved in the bribe, if it’s your organisation and you can’t show that you had adequate procedures in place to prevent bribery, then you face the consequences.
For some people, bribery is just in their nature and you can’t do anything to change that. However, there is something you can do to protect your organisation from the fines you might face if there’s a breach on your organization’s behalf. A BS 10500 compliant Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) is enough to demonstrate that you had procedures in place to prevent bribe, thus giving you a defence.
ABMS expert Alan Field has created an ABMS Documentation Toolkit which provides all the information and resources needed for an organisation to implement an ABMS. This toolkit is written in a specific way which makes it easy to integrate with existing management systems, such as, ISO 27001 and ISO 90000.
The ABMS documentation toolkit is now available to buy, for just £99.95. A fantastic price, especially if you compare it against the unlimited fine you’d face if you breached the UK Bribery Act.
